They worked, and Sony asked us to record them all and, with the welcome inclusion of Jaime Laredo, all the rest of Mozart's violin and orchestra repertoire. ![]() After several performances with Jimmy came a request from him for suitable cadenzas that showed off the solo violin while commenting on Mozart's music he had just played. There have, however, been instances (only a few, I'm pleased to say) when I've come, in the performances, to dread the onslaught of those cadenzas, which sound like a send up of Paganini, or belong to the wrong century with a plethora of double-stopping lasting too long, venturing into tonalities Mozart would not have recognized. Over the wonderfully enjoyably years of conducting, there have been so many fine encounters with the Mozart Violin Concertos - mostly with very gifted players like Menuhin, Oistrakh, Stern and, more recently, Cho-Liang (Jimmy) Lin. His other known works include 5 operas, 11 ballets, 4 violin concertos, 18 string quartets, and other chamber music.Arrangeur: Cho-Liang Lin. The most famous ballet was La villageoise, performed in London in 1796. He was also a prolific composer of ballets that took place between acts of plays and operas. Several of Capuzzi's string quintets are also performed by chamber groups. The parts may be obtained from Barry Catelinet. He performed it several times during his tenure at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition Philip Catelinet arranged all three movements of the concerto for concert band and symphony orchestra. ![]() An arrangement of the second (andante) and third (rondo) movements of the concerto is also performed on tuba, euphonium, and trombone. The concerto was found in the British Museum, and was dedicated to Kavalier Marcantonio Montenigo, who is assumed to have performed on that instrument. The most commonly performed piece today is his concerto for double bass. Īlthough popular in his day, most of his music is now forgotten. Samuele in 1805, he became orchestral director and a professor in the conservatory at S. ![]() Samuele and eventually became the orchestral director at the Teatro di S. Beginning in 1780, he was concertmaster with the orchestra at the Teatro di S. He studied in Venice, Italy under the direction of A.
